Our Vision & Mission

The Church of God reformation movement is called by God to witness to the vision of the church as expressed in the New Testament, and specifically by Jesus Christ, the chief cornerstone.

We are called to witness to the holiness lived out in our lives, in our congregations, in our personal and our ecclesial relationships, in our local, regional, national, and international polity—thereby proclaiming the unity of all believers bound together under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, guided and directed by the Holy Spirit, serving the kingdom of God.

In recent decades we have struggled to fulfil that vision and have sometimes sought meaning and purpose elsewhere than in the biblical model of the church. As a result, we have experienced a loss of connectivity, loss of unity, and loss of witness.

Our desire is to confess our failed attempts and to once again turn to that dynamic, movemental vision of the church that once drove us toward powerful witness for unity and against divisions.

We seek through this strategic plan, developed through strong relational structures and processes, to reclaim that vision and once again, through individuals, churches, Boards, Committees, Associations and agencies, to witness to Jesus Christ as the sole Head of the church.

We seek to TRANSFORM THE CULTURE OF THE CHURCH

The 20 year Strategic Plan: Transforming culture by being the body of Christ fulfilling why we exist as a Church in the Barbadian context.

Since 2004 a major focus of the General Assembly of the Church of God in Barbados has been the revitalization of national Associations, Boards, Committees and Agencies in order to achieve a greater national spirit and focus in the way we work, connect and relate.

Through a strategic planning process crystallized during a Retreat held from 25th to 28th April 2008 at the Round the Rock Apartment Hotel, Barbados, developed through strong relational structures and partnerships, we seek to reclaim that vision and once again, through individuals, churches, Associations, Boards, agencies and Committees, witness to Jesus Christ as the sole Head of the church.

We seek to TRANSFORM THE
CULTURE OF THE CHURCH...

from harmful autonomy to biblical interdependency,
from pastoral isolation to connectivity,
from fragmentation to common direction,
from crisis orientation to mission driven;
thereby, transforming the culture of the world in the direction of the kingdom of God.

In 1995, 120 Church of God leaders from across North America gathered for a Visioning Retreat. After much prayer and dialogue, they embraced six vision statements to guide the movement in the twenty-first century.

The following statements, now a part of the mission and vision statement of Church of God Ministries, declare what the Church of God reformation movement in North America exists to accomplish. We the Church of God Reformation Movement in Barbados concur and adopt.
